About Us

The Thornton Lions Club was established about the same time as the City of Thornton, Colorado in 1956. We have been serving the community ever since. The club is part of the Lions Clubs International, in what is known as the 6th District of Colorado. We meet at 7 p.m. on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the months August through May each year. We meet at the City of Thornton administrative office complex, in the conference room next to the Council chambers, 9500 Civic Center Drive, just off of Thornton Parkway and I-25. We have great guest speakers prior to our business meetings.

The Thornton Lions Club partners with local leaders in business, government, education and the private sector to identify local needs that are not being met by governmental agencies or other organizations. We determine how best we can help, whether by volunteering our time or providing financial assistance.

Here are a few examples of the things we’ve done:

  • Assisting in the provision of food and shelter for the homeless
  • Arranging or paying for eyeglasses or eye care, including surgery, for those unable to afford it
  • Sponsoring children to attend summer camp
  • Fostering neighborhood clean-up programs
  • Contributing our time as part of the 9 News Health Fair team
  • And much more!
Our newest member shared with us how welcomed she felt when she attended her first meeting of the Thornton Lions Club. We hope to welcome you, too, and hope that you will also share in our enthusiasm to help others. Please consider joining the Thornton Lions Club. While there is no set amount of time you are required to volunteer, whatever time you do will reap great rewards for you and for those you help. And you don’t even have to be a resident of Thornton to be in the Thornton Lions Club.
